NEGRO IMPACTO
Negro Impacto’s slick, cool as a summer breeze, self-titled ep caught our attention last year, and we couldn’t wait until restrictions had lifted to get them down to Limerick for a show.
The duo of Chi-Chi Enyoazu and Laurence Kapinga were joined by guitarist Matthew Meehan. Chi-Chi has the voice of an angel and amazing stage presence; her energy and infectious laughter lifted the spirits of all that were present that night. Audience participation was key, and everyone was singing along to the group’s version of Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless) with Chi-Chi conducting proceedings.
We were treated to plenty of new material, and it didn’t disappoint. The new songs have some serious grooves going on and we hope that Laurence’s bass lines end up on the released versions. Chi-Chi had everyone doing a dance with their knees at the end, ‘this could be the latest Tik-Tok’ she contented. Whatever about that, we definitely think that Negro Impacto could be the latest sensation.
