RORY SWEENEY & FRIENDS

Dublin hip-hop is on the rise again, epitomised in part by the stunning bars of Curtisy, Ahmed, With Love. and E The Artist. The three mc’s have been generating some serious heat and attention in recent times, ably backed by productions from Bitten Twice Collective members Rory Sweeney and Julia Louise Knifesfist.

Limerick bore the full brunt of this tidal wave when the whole crew was in town to perform to a packed  Record Room. Curtisy started proceedings, treating us to some current releases by him and  his dj for the night, Ryan D*mp Dwyer. The crowd was in full swing when up jumped Ahmed, With Love to join Curtisy for ‘Men on A Mission’, one of the biggest hip-hop tracks in recent times. Rewind!

E The Artist, graced the stage next, part performance art, he had the crowd literally falling at his feet when he got everyone to sit down in a circle, as he radiated bars from the centre.

Ahmed, With Love. laid down the gauntlet to all other mc’s and possibly wrestlers out there, bringing on stage his gold belt that declares him to be the undisputed ‘world heavyweight wrestling champ’ I can’t vouch for his wrestling skills, but the man definitely has tunes for days. He also unveiled his manifesto for presidency too as he intends to run in 2025, he gets my vote…

Rory Sweeney is producing some of the best music coming out of Ireland at the minute, defying genres, eras and categories. He treated us to some of his productions giving the dancing crew exactly what they needed.

And just when we thought the energy couldn’t get any higher, up stepped Julia Louise Knifefist to take things to the next level, closing out the night with a rousing performance.

Men on a mission indeed....
