SPEKULATIV FIKTION
Spekulativ Fiktion is a rapper, beatmaker and multi-instrumentalist. His award winning Effigies EP, produced by Mankyy, was released in 2018 (via Unscene Music), a year which saw multiple headline shows in Ireland and the UK as well as unrelenting festival stop offs including Body & Soul, Indiependance, It Takes a Village, Vantastival, Townlands Carnival, Cork Midsummer Festival and more.
In 2019 Spek warmed up for Wu-Tang legend GZA, performed at Quarter Block Party and First Fortnight on top of touring once again with shows in Derry, Galway, Limerick and Cork. A self produced project drops in the summer along with a number of features on releases from other artists. Spekulativ Fiktion is is listed in Nialler9's '19 Irish rappers & producers you should know in 2019' and The Irish Times' 'Great Acts to Love in 2019'.
Spek’s work has been discussed in the books, 'Flip the Script: European Hip Hop and the Politics of Postcoloniality' (University of Chicago Press) and the upcoming 'Made In Ireland' (Routledge). He is also shown in the documentary 'The Truth About Irish Hip Hop'.
